Introduction | Padepokan Kris Brojobuwono was established in 1999 to play an active role in the preservation and development of Indonesian kris culture, through the process of education (learning), research, conservation, documentation, identification, and revitalization. As such, Padepokan Brojobuwono is equipped with:
The Brojobuwono Museum is a place where daggers from the past are collected and accessible to the public. The kris-making process is also open to the general public for those who want to learn. A number of books about the Kris have been published by Padepokan Brojobuwono and disseminated to the public, including Indonesian Kris: An Introduction, Padepokan Brojobuwono, The Indonesian Kris preservation center. Dissemination of information about Kris is also done by distributing materials to the public. For example, the Kris Dragon book was funded by the government and written by Teguh Basuki Yuwono, one of the main founders of the hermitage who also teaches at the Art Institute of Indonesia Surakarta. Dissemination is also done through multimedia with filmmaking, such as Know Kris Indonesia and Prestige Technology Indonesia. A number of seminars are also conducted in order to get closer to kris culture, either for the general public or for students as the young generation successor to the nation. |
