To preserve, to collect, and to inform about the kris and other traditional weapons for younger generations in order to make them feel proud of the nation’s heritage, and to introduce the kris to Indonesia’s younger generations, to the people of Indonesia, and of other nations in the world.


Heirloom Museum has thousands of collections of heirloom and traditional weapons from all around Indonesia. The mission is to preserve, treat, collect, and inform about traditional weapons for younger generations in order to make them feel proud of the nation’s heritage. Heirloom Museum is an education center that studies all Indonesia’s traditional heirloom. Heirloom Museum’s collection was originally a grant from Mrs. Dra. Sri Lestari Masagung, of Tosan Aji Museum on Kwitang Street No.13, Central Jakarta. The grant of collections was given to Mrs. Hj. Siti Hartinah Soeharto as head of the Harapan Kita foundation or the management of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.

Major Activities

Temporary exhibitions held once a month, such as :

  • Archipelago heirloom in February;
  • Various kinds of heirloom (Kris, spear, sword, others sharp weapons, etc.) in April;
  • Bali and Lombok Kris in June;
  • Walisongo heirloom in August;
  • – Old and unique heirloom in October;
  • – Exhibition of Sumatera, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi Kris in December.
  • Suro Week (Javanese Calendar): Kirab Pusaka, Ruwatan Massal (self-purification ritual), Exhibition and exchange of Kris, Jamasan workshop, and production of Warangka (Kris Holder), Jamasan training, gatherings, and others. Exhibition of kris from Majapahit Kingdom and Mataram Kingdom’s era.
  • Kris certification.
  • Jamasan / Kris treatment.
  • Kris consultation with the curator of Heirloom Museum.
