Through its many activities, Khmer Arts seeks to create a continuum of recruitment, training, outreach, research, creation, and performance that develop compelling works of art, accomplished artists, and diverse, informed audiences.

Established in 2002, Khmer Arts is a natural extension of the work of its founding artistic director, National Heritage Fellow Sophiline Cheam Shapiro. Khmer Arts sees itself as a nexus of arts and culture in a transnational community that is endowed with wonderful traditions and that is looking for ways of using those traditions to improve quality of life.
