Objectives | The main objective of National Commission is to develop economic, social and intellectual development of Nepalese people through the educational, scientific and cultural programs; to conduct trainings, research, conference etc. in the field of education, culture, science and media. They aim to promote the potential of the glorious culture of the country in other countries of the world; promote the objectives and programs of UNESCO that will be brought to the public. Commission also looks forward to help in implementation of national and regional development projects and programs operated in collaboration with UNESCO. |
Introduction | National Commission was formed after Nepal became the member country of UNESCO as per the provision. The commission looks after the fields of education, culture, science, media etc. which are the sectors under UNESCO. They are responsible for focusing and promoting the works of UNESCO as per the department. |
Major Activities | The organization has been conducting various programs such as cultural program in schools in order to save the culture of “Janajatis” where the students perform cultural dances wearing different ethnic dresses. Recently they also had organized an art competition for the children between the age group 6-12 and conducted exhibition of those paintings in Art Gallery. They have also been conducting various trainings regarding Intangible Culture Heritage. |
