Objectives | The Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs (for culture) is formed by the following Departments: Department of Archaeology and National Museum, Department of Fine Arts, Department of Historical Research and National Library, National University of Arts and Culture (NUAC) Yangon and Mandalay, and Ministry office. The vision of the Ministry of Culture is to fulfill the social objectives of Myanmar by uplifting the morale and morality of the entire nation, its national prestige and integrity, and preserving and safeguarding its cultural heritage and national character, as well as the dynamism of the patriotic spirit. The mission is to love and cherish the country and the people by taking pride in our own traditions as well as by preserving, exposing, and propagating Myanmar cultural heritage and its numerous traditions and customs. The National Museum Naypyitaw is a museum under the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs. National Museum Naypyitaw’s exhibition policy and objectives are as follow:

Introduction | National Museum (Naypyitaw) comprises six sections, which are Collection and Curatorial, Research and Reference Library, Public Relation and Education, Administration, Conservation, and Engineering. The National Museum (Naypyitaw) was established by the government in 2010 and opened to the public in 2015. The museum has five wings. According to the exhibition policy, the National Museum (Naypyitaw) displays the successive periods of Myanmar history and traditional arts and crafts as well. Every visitor can study the prehistoric period of Myanmar, the arts and crafts of Myanmar, the culture of Myanmar, and the history of Myanmar all in the museum. In the prehistoric period exhibition rooms are displayed the anthropoid primate and fossils from 40 million years ago, evidence of Paleolithic men settlement in Myanmar, tools, weapons, and techniques of our ancestors. In the arts and crafts exhibition rooms, Myanmar traditional painting and ten kinds of Myanmar traditional arts and crafts that were transmitted from generation to generation are explained. In conclusion, the National Museum (Naypyitaw) is a unique museum that educates the public and disseminates the cultural heritage of our ancestors. As for the educational program, the museum offers free admission to students and guided tours for groups. Museum visitors can access the media corner and every exhibition room. All students, young generations, scholars, researchers are welcome to our museum. |
Major Activities | National Museum (Naypyitaw) is now carrying out tasks such as collecting a wide variety of objects from all around Myanmar and doing conservation work on museum objects. The National Museum’s tasks are the following:
National Museum (Naypyitaw) collects data, conducts research, keeps records on literature, culture, customs, and characters of nationality, to support and contribute to solidarity. Our museum runs several educational activities (including exhibitions, a stamp activity, an audio guide, publications, and a museum quiz contest) geared to attract the public. Some activities are designed to develop the general public’s interest in the museum and motivate people to actually visit it, as well as to nurture the younger generation audience. |
