Introduction | The National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) is the country’s most prestigious competition for young musicians. For more than four decades, it has identified and nurtured the musical genius of our country’s youth producing a wealth of accomplished musicians who have won and gained considerable experience from their NAMCYA participation, and are now recognized as consummate artists in the local and international scene. MANDATE PP 1173 has designated the last week of November of each year as National Music Week, with the NAMCYA Competitions as main highlights of the celebration. In 2001, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo signed Presidential Proclamation No. 80 which affirms NAMCYA’s mission for the nation’s young artists. This Proclamation further designates the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) as the primary supporting agency of this endeavor. |
