  • To cultivate love for physical culture among the citizens especially youths irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
  • To adopt ways and means to systematize and popularize globally the traditional Indian system of Physical Culture.
  • To co-operate with all national and international voluntary and professional organizations and other responsible bodies concerned with health, physical education and recreation.
  • To study and adopt physical culture activities of other countries and undertake exchange programme with them.
  • To undertake research and publish conducive literature.
  • To create & provide infrastructural facilities and personnel for research and dissemination of knowledge.

A small club founded in the year 1914 by a group of freedom fighters is now transformed into a hub of educational institutions humming with large number of students and youths of all ages including girls belonging to different states of India. Apart from student population, there are equal number of local children, youths and senior citizens who visit the campus for their exercise need and enjoyment through participation in different sports of their liking.

The campus is big enough to conveniently accommodate this human force at different venues like swimming pools, gymnasium, running track, fitness and aerobic centre, yoga and naturopathy centre, archery, mallkhamb, indoor sports stadium of Badminton, table tennis, judo, wrestling and in addition, several other sports like cricket, volleyball, basketball, soccer, handball, traditional sports and games, etc.

National and International contacts: Two major programmes launched by the institute in early twenties attracted attention of youths; they are: 1. Summer Physical training Classes (1924) and 2. Inter-State propaganda tours for showcasing of traditional sports & games (1928). Since then demonstration programmes of traditional activities were arranged in about 500 cities of 20 States of India till today. Deputation of its members for higher studies in modern sports and physical education to Germany and Japan in 1928 and 1930 respectively and in 1933 to World Scout Jamboree was done by the institute.

The founding members had a vision to establish “Cosmopolitan University of Physical Culture” where studies of physical cultures of different countries would take place. The Mandal could succeed in deputing a team of 24 members for participating in ‘World Sport Pedagogic Congress’ held during the XI Olympic Games at Berlin (1936). The team showcased India’s traditional sports & games on this international platform- first time in the history. Since then visiting 25 countries and demonstrating our traditional activities in 50 cities of Europe, Asia, America and Latin America- itself a record of its international activities.

Major Activities
  • Conduct regular training program in TSG for local students & youths on voluntary basis.
  • Organize periodical coaching camps in sports & games for youths of different states during summer vacation every year.
  • Organize demonstration –cum propaganda tours in the region and other states to showcase traditional sports and games.
  • Depute speakers and delegates at conferences, seminars or workshops held in India or in other countries.
  • Encourage research and related activities in TSG and modern sports at the campus.
  • Maintenance and up gradation of sports infrastructure, research laboratories and library.
  • Run training college for the physical education teachers.
  • Run ‘Yoga and Naturopathy Centre’ to offer training, treatment and research.
  • Run health and fitness centre for local youths; and aerobic centre for girls and women.
  • Organize the annual ‘National Traditional & Modern Sports & Games Festival’ with the participation of 3000 students and youths including girls.
  • Organize tournaments & competitions on traditional and modern sports, folk dances and martial art activities.
  • Publish conducive literature, text books, and research journals periodically in the field of TSG, ancient and modern sports science.
