  • To grow and to increase the knowledge about traditional Indonesian fabric;
  • To grow and to develop the interest for utilizing Indonesian fabric production;
  • To assist the development of the Jakarta Textile Museum.

Wastraprema Indonesia Traditional Textile Society is a community of woven fabric, batik, and traditional Indonesian fabric enthusiasts. The name Wastraprema was taken from Sanskrit; Wastra means “fabric,” Prema means “love” or “enthusiast.” Members of Wastraprema come from various circles of society, and even from other countries. One partner of the Wastraprema Community is the Textile Museum. These organizations were jointly established by Mr. Ali Sadikin, governor of the Special Region of Jakarta.
